With a new proposal for the program of subsidized holidays for domestic tourism, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios will appear at the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.
The plan will cover the period from the beginning of May until the end of July 2022. This is a continuation of the plan to support domestic tourism which was in force in previous months, while details will be announced in the coming days.
Speaking on state radio, Mr. Perdios said he would make a new round of visits to foreign countries in order to secure new markets for tourism.
The new tour, which starts next Thursday, includes the United Kingdom, Poland and France.
From France is expected that there will be a significant increase in visitors, said among others Mr. Perdios.
The Undersecretary of Tourism also noted that the goal for arrivals this year is to remain at the same level as in 2021. He said that due to the war, there will be a significant reduction in tourism from Russia and Ukraine, but the State Department continues its efforts to compensate for the reported losses.
