Five deaths and 2.789 cases of coronavirus in the last week in Cyprus

Five deaths and 2.789 cases of coronavirus were announced by the Ministry of Health for the week of September 30 – October 6, 2022. A total of 68.015 diagnostic tests were performed and the positivity rate is 4,1%.

The announcement of the Ministry of Health:

The Ministry of Health announces that for the week of September 30 – October 6, 2022:

  • 5 deaths were announced
  • Relate to:
  • Male, aged 80, who passed away on 01/10/2022
  • Male, aged 90, who passed away on 01/10/2022
  • Man, aged 85, who passed away on 03/10/2022
  • Woman, aged 95, who passed away on 05/10/2022
  • Woman, aged 82, who passed away on 05/10/2022
  • Total number of deaths with final cause of the disease COVID-19: 1.187.
  • 44 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized in OKYPY hospitals
  • 4 in serious condition (ICU: 0 out of ventilator / 2 intubated, MAF: 2)
  • 2 patients who have ceased to be infectious continue to be treated by intubation due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

Diagnostic examinations:

  • A total of 68.015 diagnostic tests were performed
  • 2.789 new cases were identified (total of 590.783 cases).
  • Position rate in all exams 4,1%

Total number of molecular tests (PCR):

  • 2.229 molecular tests were performed
  • There were 158 positive cases
  • Position rate 7,09%

Total Rapid Test:

  • 65.786 rapid antigen detection tests were performed
  • There were 2.631 positive cases
  • Position rate 4%

Private initiative:

  • 1.839 molecular tests were performed, 120 positive cases were identified (positivity rate 6,53%)
  • 43.220 rapid antigen detection tests were performed, 2.498 positive cases were detected (positivity rate 5,78%)

Through the programs of the Ministry of Health, 22.566 rapid antigen detection tests were performed. 133 positive cases were identified.

  • Sampling points: 10.420 rapid detection tests identified 87 positive cases (positivity rate 0,83%)

Education

  • Primary Education: 1.713 rapid antigen detection tests, 6 positive cases identified (positivity rate 0,35%)
  • Secondary Education: 2.596 rapid detection tests detected 10 positive cases (positivity rate 0,39%)

Other

  • National Guard: performed 27 rapid antigen detection tests and identified 2 positive cases (7,41% positive rate)
  • Nursing homes: 4.550 rapid antigen detection tests performed, 13 positive cases detected (positivity rate 0,29%)
  • Closed structures: 3.260 rapid antigen detection tests were performed, 15 new cases were detected (positivity rate 0,46%).
