The Police draws attention to catering business entrepreneurs and emphasizes the responsibility and obligation they have for full compliance with the latest decree of the Ministry of Health for their operating conditions.
In the past three days, in a total of 1934 inspections of premises throughout Cyprus, 32 violations have been identified and an equal number of complaints have been lodged. Everyone is reminded of entrepreneurs and the public, the explicit provisions for the spaces and the way of serving their customers. Specifically:
“It is allowed the operation of a catering service indoors and outdoors that includes, among other things, the following companies, under the conditions set out below and in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
- Restaurants
- Hotels and tourist accommodation
- Taverns
- Cafes
- Pizzerias
- Beers, snack bars and bars,
- Cafes, and
- Canteens and / or dining areas for sports clubs, cultural groups, clubs and associations. The services to the public in the above companies are provided under the following conditions:
"The service of the public is done exclusively in table seats, in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health". Therefore, the Police emphasize that the public is not allowed to crowd around the table for any reason.
The decree also states that “where there are bars in these companies, they will not accept audiences for service. The use and operation of bars is limited solely to the preparation of food or drink by employees. It is forbidden to serve the public directly from the bar ".
"The operation of playgrounds inside restaurants is prohibited."
It is pointed out that, from today, June 9, 2020, among others, the operation of Malls, department stores and retail businesses as well as catering services (indoor and outdoor areas) within these centers is allowed.
Entrepreneurs are encouraged to follow the relevant provisions of the legislation and guidelines of the Ministry of Health to the letter.
The Police emphasize once again that, in its effort to protect public health, it will carry out even more systematic checks on the basis of the decrees, in cooperation with the other competent departments of the various Ministries involved, and will be strict in full implementation. and compliance with them.
The suspension of the spread of the pandemic has been the result of the compliance of the vast majority of citizens with the decrees and instructions of those in charge. The relaxation of the measures in the catering services presupposes the consistent observance of the instructions by all, the full compliance of the entrepreneurs and the individual responsibility of the citizens.
