The suggestions of the experts for closing the schools of all levels seem to "lock" in the context of the new measures that are expected to be announced on Friday (8/1) after the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
Information transmitted by Everyday state that the schools will be closed for three weeks while the teaching will be carried out with distance education. However, it has not been decided so far what will be born with the kindergartens and nurseries.
The suggestion of the experts before the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, was to tighten the measures in schools of all levels in relation to the restriction of parents to their homes.
The measures as a whole are expected to move to a more relaxed lockdown, with exceptions, while experts do not expect "miracles" in terms of reducing the number of patients in a short time.
"We are already starting with a given high load of the virus. The aim is to limit the transmission, but the measures regarding the hospitalizations are expected to be slow to pay off ", notes in KATHIMERINI Dr. Maria Koliou.
Dr. Petros Karagiannis is moving in the same direction, stressing that although the number of cases seems to have stabilized these days, they are still considered high. The margins are narrowing and the solution of the lockdown is the way to limit the transmission of the virus in order to discharge the health system that is currently suffocating with the number of patients increasing.

Meanwhile, in a statement of the Ministry of Education regarding the measures applied in schools to limit the spread of the disease COVID-19, states that "while waiting for the decisions for the necessary new protection measures against the pandemic, it is reminded that from the beginning of the school year our schools have implemented the recommendations and instructions of the special and health authorities".
Operating with a Health Protocol, they significantly reduced the spread of the disease in the school population. The measures and instructions that will be decided will be implemented in the same way, the announcement emphasizes.
The Ministry, referring to comments made regarding the health of teachers, notes that with the decisive contribution of the school administrations and teachers, an attitude of responsibility for the health of the staff within the schools was observed and, if necessary, reminds that others were who from the beginning of the year demanded "discounts" in terms of health protection and claimed that the mask should not be used by teachers.
The Ministry of Education reiterates that from the beginning of the school year it pursues a dual goal: on the one hand the protection of the health of students / three and teachers and at the same time the preservation of public health and, on the other hand, the provision, under the circumstances, of the best possible education. Through this pursuit, we see the great efforts of many teachers, who sometimes exaggerate themselves to meet the challenge, but also the behavior of some who seem to see the pandemic as an opportunity to project a permanent mentality of denial.
"But the effort to cope with these extremely difficult conditions is collective. We take advantage of the goodwill and conscientiousness of the teachers and even overcome the obstacles posed by some systematically reprimanded people. The public school has proved since last March that it can show the necessary reflexes, since in just a few weeks, utilizing digital technology, it has entered into distance learning processes. So even now the positive approach will prevail and with a spirit of collectivity, always for the sake of our children, we will win this school year as well ", the announcement concludes.
