Recently, EAC customers have informed the Organization that they receive visits from persons who present themselves as EAC employees or partners, who, after first interrupting the supply to the consumer's premises, offer to restore the electricity supply, on the condition that the consumer pay a certain amount of money.

The Cyprus Electricity Authority clarifies that it has nothing to do with the persons in question and calls on consumers to be particularly careful.

Interruption of electricity supply occurs in the following cases:

· Damage to the electricity network that affects a wider area

· Planned Outage for which affected consumers are informed in advance

· Problem with the fuse carrier (fuse) or EAC microswitch. In this case the customer should call EAC Distribution for

fuse repair or Auto Micro Switch reset and will incur the corresponding charges which will appear on the next electricity bill

· Non-payment of an electricity bill for which the consumer has already been informed.

In the event of damage, the EAC crews go to the area and take care of repairing the damage as quickly as possible. The

scheduled outages are listed on the EAC Website with expected recovery time. For these two cases there is no charge to the affected consumers.

In cases of interruption due to non-timely payment, the consumer will have to settle his obligations and then he will be officially informed by an EAC official about the time to reconnect his property. In addition, the reconnection charge for non-payment appears on the consumer's next bill.

It is noted that the EAC staff who visit the premises of electricity consumers always have their corporate ID at their disposal, which the consumers are encouraged to present to them as they ask the employees to present it to them.
