Preparations for the start of the new school year require not only good organization of schools and the Ministry of Education in matters of tasks, duties and safety measures but also clear instructions on the price list that school canteens should have.

In a circular to the principals of Primary, Secondary General and Secondary Technical and Vocational Education schools, the chairman of the Central School Canteen Control Committee (KEESK), Kyprianos Louis, informs about the approved price lists and the product specifications of the schools that will be offered in the canteens.

Aim to take the appropriate actions for control and implementation. The price lists refer to the school year 2019 - 2020 and are valid from September 2, while the specifications refer to healthy products including yogurts, cereal bars and juices, while it is clarified that puff pastry is prohibited. Products include organic (fruit, juices and bars).

Below we present some of the products included in the price list of schools, as well as the prices set by KEESK:

Primary schools
Sandwich or pie with halloumi or edam cheese: € 1,60 (large)
Sandwich or pie with halloumi and lounza: € 1,90 (large)
Roast pork sandwich or pie: € 2,00 (large)
Roast pork sandwich or pie with halloumi or edam cheese: € 2,00 (large)
All the above products in normal size cost € 1,10
-To all the above are added necessary tomatoes and cucumber
Cheese pie with dough sheet, halloumi and olive pie: € 1,20
Pizza and tahini pie: € 1,00
Thessaloniki type bun with sesame: € 0,70
Pasteurized fresh chocolate / banana milk: € 0,70 and € 0,90 (two different brands - one company also offers a large size with € 1,05)
Pasteurized fresh milk 1,5% fat: € 0,55
Long-lasting milk: € 0,70, € 0,90 and € 1,10 (depending on the brand)
Strained yogurt: € 0,85
Fruit yogurt with 0% fat: € 0,60 (there are also more expensive depending on the brand)
Genuine fruit juice: € 1,15 (large) and € 0,70 (small)
Pasteurized genuine orange juice with cells: € 0,75
Pasteurized genuine juice: € 1,00
Freshly squeezed natural orange, grapefruit and carrot juice: € 1,00
Genuine fruit juice 200ml: € 0,55
Mineral bottled water: € 0,40
Natural table water: € 0,25
Popcorn: From € 0,30 to € 0,80 (depending on brand and size)
Bars: From € 0,50 to € 1,10 (depending on brand, size and materials)
Organic apple: € 0,45
Organic natural juice: € 0,80

Organic wheat chicken with salt: € 0,65
Organic cereal snack: € 1,25

It is worth noting that the price list of the canteens also includes ice creams in vanilla-cocoa and vanilla-chocolate flavors, which can be sold only from September to October and from April to June. The smallest glass of ice cream will be sold for € 0,45, the 70g of ice cream for € 0,55, while the two largest sizes will be sold for € 0,80 and € 1,00.

Regarding products aimed at people with special nutritional needs
needs, the price list is as follows:

Ice cream with sweeteners 125ml: € 1,15
Ice cream with 0% added sugar 70gr: € 0,70
"Miscellaneous" also includes:
Rice pudding: € 0,90
Jelly: € 0,90
Wholemeal rice wafers with flavors: € 1,10
Pasteurized low-fat yogurt with 0% fruit salad: € 1,00.

The price list in Secondary Education

Sandwiches (or pie) have been priced as in Primary Education, but with the difference that in Secondary schools there is only a large product size.

Cheese pie with dough sheet, halloumi, olive pie, tahini pie and pizza: € 1,40

In addition to the above bakery products, prices remain the same as in Primary Schools for other products, such as milk, strained yogurt, mineral table water and natural table water, in various types of genuine juices. , popcorn, cereal bars, ice cream (and Canteens in Secondary Schools should offer them in the same months as Canteens in Primary Schools), organic products and products specifically for people with a specific diet Needs.

Regarding the products offered to the students of Secondary Education schools but not to the students of Primary Education are the following:

Iced tea (various flavors): From € 0,60 to € 1,00 (depending on brand and size). There is also tea for people with special nutritional needs for: € 1,00 and € 1,30
Organic pulp: € 0,80
Organic dates: € 0,80
Candies (specific type in various flavors): € 1,20
