The Nursing members of the Pancyprian Nurses' Union (PASYNO) are going on a 12-hour strike today, Monday, in protest of the disciplinary investigation ordered by the Minister of Health for five nurses of Athalassa Hospital, who refused to take care of patients the health and safety protocol of both the patient and himself were observed.

According to PASYNO, the decision was taken by the union itself and the nurses followed its instructions, however, the Minister decided to conduct an investigation into disciplinary misconduct of its members.

In the past few days, PASYNO launched complaints against the Minister of Health, for interfering in the right to trade unionism, while calling on him to withdraw all ongoing proceedings for the trial of misdemeanors against nurses.

On the other hand, the Minister of Health responded to PASYNO, stating that the disciplinary investigation can not be carried out "because it is interference in the work of justice and violates the principles of good administration."

Besides, due to the 12-hour work stoppage that PASYNO will carry out, the operation of the Vaccination Centers is affected, which will have to work with security personnel.

The Ministry of Health informs that it is already taking the necessary steps so that the number of vaccination appointments can be rescheduled on other days.

Specifically, the Vaccination Centers that are affected are in Larnaca the Vaccination Center Port B, in Limassol the Vaccination Center Spyros Kyprianou B and the Vaccination Center Spyros Kyprianou E, in Famagusta the Vaccination Center General Hospital A.

Citizens who have an appointment scheduled for today at the above Vaccination Centers, will be informed by Sunday, via text message, which is sent to their mobile phone for the new date of their appointment.

The Ministry of Health apologizes for any inconvenience that may be caused and calls on the affected citizens not to come for vaccination on Monday but on the new day that will be sent to them by text message.
