The President is in Athens for the Meeting of the Leaders of the EPP

The President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, is participating in the Meeting of the Leaders of the European People's Party (EPP) today and tomorrow in Athens.

As announced by the Presidency, this afternoon, President Anastasiades will participate in the first part of the discussions of the Leaders' Meeting, while in the evening he will participate in a working dinner of the EPP. Tomorrow, December 3, in the morning President Anastasiades will participate in the second part of the work of the delegates of the EPP.

During the work of the Meeting of the Leaders of the European People's Party, issues related to the European agenda will be discussed, among other things.

Moreover, at 8 pm on December 3, the President of the Republic will attend and speak at a dinner organized by DISY Greece.

The President of the Republic will then go to Tirana, where the EU-Western Balkans Summit will take place on December 5 and 6.

The EU-Western Balkans Summit is being held for the first time in a country of the Western Balkans region as a sign of the EU's continued will to further strengthen its political and economic relations with the Western Balkans and to give impetus to the accession perspective of the countries of the region, in through a period of unrest in the wider region of Europe.

During the EU-Western Balkans Summit, issues related to efforts to mitigate the impact of the war in Ukraine on the Western Balkans will be discussed, including the energy and economic sector, the accession agenda, the situation in Ukraine, Migration, as well as and the efforts for coordination and cooperation in matters of migration management, cyber security, dealing with hybrid threats, as well as terrorism.

The President of the Republic, who will return to Cyprus on the evening of December 6, will be accompanied by the Government Spokesman, Marios Pelekanos, the Deputy Minister to the President, Petros Dimitriou, and the Director of Pantelis Pantelidis' Office.
