At 88% of the normal rainfall from October 1 (beginning of the hydrological year) is the rainfall in the free areas, according to the data of the Department of Meteorology.
According to the data, the total rainfall reached 259,5 mm compared to the normal (data 1960 -1991) which is 294 mm.
It is noted that the last 24 hours have given a total average rainfall of 24,5 mm in the free areas, which is almost 100% of the total for the whole month (until 08:00 this morning) which is at 24,8 mm. However, the rainfall of January until this morning is only 24% of normal for the month of January.
Based on the data so far this morning, the stations that exceeded 100% of the normal rainfall from October 1 are Lithrodontas with 125%, Larnaca airport with 117%, while in Nicosia (Athalassa station) the recorded rainfall reached 100 % of normal.
