The rescue operation of more than 300 people on a boat off Pafos was carried out by the KSED.
According to a statement, "on September 19, 2022 at 19:00 p.m., the KSED of Larnaca received information about a boat with more than 300 people in danger, which was sailing at a distance of 110 nm west of Paphos, within the area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus .
The KSED proceeded with the implementation of the Special National Plan "TEVKROS" concerning mass rescue operations, initially mobilizing a helicopter of the 460 MED of the EF to identify and confirm the nature of the danger, and then the PGY ALASIA and the PATH IOANNIDIS of the Naval Administration of the GEEF , the Akato Thesea of the L&N Police, as well as commercial ships sailing in the area.
After the operation was completed, all the rescued were safely boarded the Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship "PAOLO TOPIC".
