A 4-year-old man is in custody for 24 days for a fight in Kissonerga - Three others are wanted

The District Court of Paphos issued a four-day detention order against a 24-year-old man to facilitate investigations regarding a fight that took place on Wednesday night in Kissonerga, while three other persons are wanted for the case. The 46-year-old defendant who is in custody, guarded at the Paphos General Hospital where he is being treated, was accused in writing to be summoned later.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou, on 10.4.24 around 22:30, a 46-year-old man who was at his workplace in the Kissonergas area, informed the Police that he had received a threatening phone call from an unknown person who told him that heading towards him with other faces in threatening moods.

The reason for the incident, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, was that the 46-year-old complainant had allegedly made a publication on a social network, in which he "affected one of those who were directed towards him".

Immediately after the information, members of the Peyia Police Station went to the workplace and met the complainant. Subsequently, four young people came to the scene, who tried to talk to the complainant "with moods that were not mild", according to the police report.

At some point the four persons ran towards the 46-year-old and allegedly attacked him, "hitting him with their hands". The two members of the Police, who were on the scene, intervened and managed to arrest one of them, aged 24. The other three fled and disappeared.

Then, Mr. Nikolaou said, while the 24-year-old was arrested, "the 46-year-old moved threateningly towards the arrested in the presence of the Police, was shouting and causing concern, and was arrested for the self-inflicted offense of concern and was taken into custody."

The 46-year-old was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of the General Hospital of Paphos due to the attack he received and after being examined by the doctor on duty it was found that he had a fractured vertebra as well as other real physical injuries such as abrasions on his face and other parts of his body and is hospitalized . Subsequently, he was accused in writing, however, he remains hospitalized at the General Hospital of Paphos.

The Paphos Police is conducting tests to secure the details of the remaining three persons who had left the scene.
