The large-scale fire in Akama National Forest Park is under full control

The oversized was put under complete control fire that broke out yesterday in Akama National Forest Park.

According to the Police and the data so far, the fire, which burned three square kilometers, was brought under full control yesterday afternoon, however, throughout the night, strong firefighting forces remained in the area to avoid any re-ignition.

Early this morning, two leased helicopters of the Republic of Cyprus were already operating in the area to assist in the complete extinction of the small centers. It is noted that the fire broke out yesterday at 09:30 in the Akama National Forest Park.

Strong ground and air forces attempted to extinguish the fire completely.

For the extinguishing project, the Icarus Plan was implemented, which concerns the operations of the aircraft, after the assistance of the 1 plane of the Department of Forests and 4 leased helicopters of the Republic, as well as the coordination helicopter of the National Guard.

Yesterday in the District of Paphos a total of seven fires broke out, in Lara, Drousia, and Drynia. Also in a rural area between the communities of Drinia and Polemi, in a rural area in Agios Dimitrianos and Letimbou

Also for the fire that had broken out in Krittos Marotou, the Police proceeded to arrest a 58-year-old resident of the community. In all cases, areas with dry grass and wild vegetation were burned.
