In today's announcement, the Sectoral Council of Teachers of the Pancyprian Guild EQUALITY and the United Parents Association of Cyprus call on all competent bodies to take an immediate position and to exert pressure on the Ministry of Education.

They also call on them to address the serious problems of education, which have clearly intensified in the last two years, due to the measures taken against covid-19 and to protect children, the role of the teacher, the character of the school and the pedagogical process in general.

In addition, the Sectoral Council of Teachers of the Pancyprian Guild EQUALITY and the United Parents Association of Cyprus call for a gradual de-escalation of measures until their complete lifting and restoration of the human and social dimension of the school, as well as cooperation within schools.

They also demand the provision of humane working conditions to the replacements, in order to express interest in the cases where it is needed, as well as the immediate abolition of the "test to stay" and the rapid test in general until the Attorney General decides.

"Safety and health are not limited to covid-19 "and is not separate from the overall well-being of students in all areas," they conclude.
