At the same time, there is concern in Cyprus about the cases that returned from Greek islands and passengers who are expected to return in the coming days. Asked if there is a possibility of quarantine for some passengers returning from areas or islands of Greece with the spread of the virus, Mr. Karagiannis answered that he does not know if such a thing can happen. "I do not know if this scenario can happen. There are local lockdowns, for example in Poros, Paros, etc. for a fortnight and then the measures are lifted, this is the way to deal with it so far, however, it also depends on how wide the transmission will be ”.
What is happening in Cyprus
As stated by Dr. Karagiannis, "the situation in Cyprus is still under control, most cases in recent days were imported, detected upon entering the country, isolated, etc. So the most important thing is to limit domestic transmission and the only way is with tracking, the many tests and isolation until we limit the cases to single digits. So far there is no concern, the situation is under control ".
While regarding the phenomena with incidents that broke their quarantine, Dr. Karagiannis stated that these have not been repeated since the time when there is a stricter control of those who are in quarantine. "We have never heard of people breaking the quarantine and self-isolation. The people observe their quarantine ".
It is noted that so far no meeting of the Epidemiological Group with the Minister of Health has been arranged for its further evaluation.
