Elections: Voting hours in Cyprus and abroad for the 1st Sunday have been announced

The General Electoral Commissioner announced that the voting for the presidential elections of January 28, 2018, at the polling stations that will operate in the Republic, will begin at 7.00 am and will stop at 12 noon, for a break of one hour. According to the current Electoral Legislation, the voting will resume at 1 pm and will normally end at 6.00 pm.

The chairperson of each polling station may, if necessary, extend the voting hours until 9.00 pm at the latest, if there is a large number of voters outside the polling station waiting to vote, according to the announcement.

Regarding the polling stations abroad, it is reported that the voting hours are set for 10.00 am - 7.00 pm, with a break between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.


In Greece and Bulgaria, voters can come to the polls between 7.00 am and 6.00 pm, with a break between 12.00 noon and 1.00 pm.

Voting hours in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Czech Republic are set at 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, with breaks between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm.

In the United Kingdom, polling stations are open from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, with a half-hour break at 12.00 noon.

Finally, in the US, voters can exercise their right to vote between 7.00 am and 11.00 am.
