Hope for the resumption of talks on the Cyprus issue will mean his possible election to the Presidency of the Republic, said the candidate Stavros Malas.

Speaking on the Third Face-to-Face show, Mr Malas said he would continue the negotiations from where they left off, on the basis of a massive acquis of a years-long process, including the framework document of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. .
Mr. Malas accused President Anastasiadis of not taking advantage of the top opportunity offered by the Secretary General in Crans Montana to abolish the guarantees and resolve the Cyprus issue.
At the same time, he assured that, under any circumstances, the exploration in the Cypriot EEZ and the exploitation of natural gas will not stop, indicating that the energy plans are not interconnected with the Cyprus problem.
For the economy, Stavros Malas said he would follow strict fiscal discipline and implement a stable tax system.
Characterizing the non-performing loans as a time bomb, Mr. Malas wondered whether the Government has a plan to address this problem. He also accused President Anastasiadis that, a few months before the elections, with the taxpayer's money, every second day he announces various things, without even knowing if it will be a government again to implement them.
For his candidacy, Stavros Malas expressed the certainty that he will be in the second round of the presidential elections, with a very high probability of being elected.
