The General Assembly of the Association of Bank Securities Holders decided tonight to withdraw the candidacy of the President of the Association Phoebus Mavrovouniotis for the January Presidential elections and to support the candidacy of Nikolas Papadopoulos from the first round of elections.
The decision to support the candidacy of Nikola Papadopoulos was taken by the vast majority of members of the General Assembly, as the President of the Association of Bank Securities Holders stated speaking to KYPE.
Asked about the reasons for the decision, he said that "a key element that played a role is the proposal of the candidates, the feasibility of the proposal, the second and the possibility of election, the third".
Everything was taken into account, he explained, and "since the President of the Republic completely ignored us, the decision was ultimately up to Nikolas Papadopoulos from the first round."
He added that with the votes of the members of the Association, Nikolas Papadopoulos can hope that he will pass to the second round. "Because if we did not give him (the votes), our percentage could have played an important role in not going to the second round. And that is another reason why we withdrew. "
