Addressing a short greeting to the faithful, Mr. Syllouris said that he felt obliged to attend this historic church for the Divine Liturgy, as the church offered shelter and was the home of the Greek community, keeping ties with Cyprus, tradition and religion. "This was the basis and the root for the Greek community to grow and prosper and to be able to help Cyprus, as it helps it in many ways," he noted.

He added that the meetings he will have with representatives and members of the parish will not be formal. "I want to listen to you, to listen to your suggestions and opinions because the important meetings that I will have take place in a very transitional period worldwide. "You here (in Britain) feel this insecurity perhaps more because of the decision taken regarding Europe, but we in Cyprus also feel insecure because of what is happening in our region", said Mr. Syllouris.

He added that the priority of his contacts with a British official is to see, among other things, how the Cypriot who is a British citizen will be protected after Brexit, what will be his relationship with Cyprus and consequently with Europe, but also the Cypriot citizen. living in the UK, including students.

Finally, she wished everyone a Merry Christmas and asked the parish to maintain contact with Cyprus, which recognizes what the expatriate Cypriots have to offer.
