A plan of fifty actions, aimed at the integration of immigrants into Cypriot society, was prepared by the Ministry of the Interior.
Speaking to Trito, the Minister of the Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, said that the Plan, with key areas of education, employment, health and housing, will soon be submitted for approval to the Council of Ministers, so that its implementation can begin.
At the same time, he pointed out that in 2023, Cyprus had very positive results in terms of migrant arrivals and returns.
In particular, arrivals decreased by 50% and at the same time, Cyprus is in first place among the member states of the European Union, in relation to the return of immigrants. 2023 saw a 66% increase in returns compared to 2022.
The Minister of the Interior emphasized that the developments in the matter of infrastructure are also very positive.
He noted that the work in Pournara and the pre-departure center in Limnes is progressing at an intensive pace.
He also said that five to six hundred immigrants now live in Pournara.
