The fight against seasonality and the extension of the tourist season is high on the agenda of the priorities of the tourism agents and the local authorities in the province of Famagusta.

Watch the video with the Sigma TV report:

Alternative ways of dealing with the phenomenon of seasonality are promoted by the Society for Tourism Development and Promotion of the free province, which in collaboration with the local rural authorities, implements the Experiential Tourism program.

As part of the "Endless Sun" program, Scandinavian tourists visited the Hatzigiorki Mills Museum in Frenaro Community, where they had the opportunity to watch the history of the flour mill and make their own breads.

In his statements, the Mayor of Frenaro, Michalis Hatzigiorkas, stated, among other things: "Unfortunately, as Frenaros we have neither sea nor beaches, but we have other places and ways to offer foreign travelers to get to know the customs and traditions of the Cypriot countryside."

The "Endless Sun" program has been implemented in free Famagusta since 1987 and includes organized visits and participation of foreign tourists during the winter months in agricultural crops and traditional handicrafts in order to get acquainted with the customs and traditions of our place.

In his statements, in turn, the Director of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company of Famagusta province, Lakis Avraamidis noted: "We believe that it is a program that enriches our product during the winter months. It starts at the beginning of November and goes until the end of March and it is a program that has been embraced, we do it with the support of the CTO and the tourism committee of the province of Famagusta "

At the same time, ETAP Famagusta provides that this year will exceed all expectations compared to 2017, as there is a further recovery in the traditional markets and the influx of tourists to Protaras and Ayia Napa from new markets.
