The established cooperation in the field of tourism between Cyprus and Jordan was announced by the competent Ministers of the two countries at an event at London City Hall on Monday evening, on the sidelines of the major international tourism exhibition World Travel Market.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savvas Perdios, referred to the many common elements of the two countries, which together with the sufficient connectivity between Cyprus and Jordan allows the offer of a package visit to both countries for the traveler. This initiative will also be addressed to visitors from distant destinations.

Mr. Perdios also emphasized the environmental sustainability of the offered package through the possibility of visiting two countries with one trip.

As he also said, the two countries share the vision of attracting tourists throughout the year.

Jordanian Minister of Tourism Nayef al-Fayez said that this joint effort is being launched to increase arrivals in the region and highlighted the many opportunities that exist to achieve this. As he added, there is no reason for the two countries to act as competitors while they can, as partners, attract even more visitors throughout the year.

Mr. Perdios also mentioned that Cyprus wants to be a destination that is digitally smart, environmentally friendly and beneficial for all residents and not just the coastal ones.

In this context, the "Heartland of Legends" tourist program has been developed over the last three years, a "focal point of the tourist identity of Cyprus".

It is an initiative of the Deputy Ministry that highlights the Cypriot people of the mountainous countryside, highlights the Cypriot villages and constitutes an ode to their way of life, with the cultivation of the land, the holidays and the elaborate handmade constructions.

Mr. Perdios said that with the host and guide of the resident of these villages, the active participation of the visitor is encouraged in a series of activities, such as the preparation of halloumi and wine or the processing of textiles.

Presenting two promotional videos for Heartland of Legends, the Deputy Minister of Tourism said that at the heart of everything in this program is the concept of "film", pointing out that the visitor can choose the combination of experiences they want to experience.

The video promoting the program closed with the exhortation "come and discover the real Cyprus, the Heartland of Legends".
