Ingredients
- 1/4 cup tea cream cheese
- 10 sliced strawberries (enough to cover two toasts)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup tea low-fat unsweetened milk or almond milk
- 1 tbsp natural sweetener or sugar of choice
- 2 tbsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp (extra) natural sweetener or sugar of choice
- 4 slices of toast bread
Implementation
step 1
Mix the egg, milk, sweetener and vanilla together in a shallow bowl until combined.
step 2
In another bowl, combine the cream cheese and the (extra) sweetener or sugar.
step 3
Smear all the pieces of bread with the cream cheese mixture and add the chopped strawberries on a slice of bread. Place the second slice of bread on top and gently press the edges down to "seal". Repeat with the remaining bread.
step 4
Dip the sandwiches in the egg mixture, one at a time, and place them on a plate.
step 5
Heat a non-stick pan with a little oil or butter over low to medium heat and fry each sandwich for about 3-5 minutes on both sides or until golden brown and cooked through.
step 6
For serving, sprinkle (optional) with powdered sugar and sprinkle with maple syrup.
