Potatoes are one of the staple foods in every home. And because they can be cooked in many ways, and are an easy solution for a fast food, most of us are accustomed to sourcing them in large quantities and storing them in our kitchen or warehouse.
But what happens when the time passes and we have not had time to cook them? They begin to sprout and soften. To avoid this situation and keep them fresh for as long as possible, follow these simple tips.
- Do not store them in the refrigerator. With this wrong way of preservation, the starch is converted into glucose, with the result that their taste and texture are not satisfactory after cooking.
- For the best preservation, prefer to store them in a dry, cool and dark place. The storage room of your house is probably the ideal place for something like this, while if there is no space that combines all this, at least make sure to place them even in a place without light.
-Avoid direct contact of the potato with the cement or its storage in nylon bags. The best way is to put them in a paper bag, where the potatoes can "breathe".
