Problems for which solutions are sought are created by the undeclared and disputed plots of land in the occupied territories. The issue was discussed in the Refugee Committee of the Parliament, which asks President Anastasiadis to include in the MOE the issue of granting the registers of the land registers of Kyrenia and Famagusta, which are currently in the hands of the pseudo-state.
The Chairman of the Committee, Skei Koukouma, stated that based on data, the total percentage of disputed items amounts to 1,83%. Of these, 0,68% or 3,138 pieces are in Kyrenia and 1,15% or 5,275 pieces in Famagusta.
The undeclared amounts to 19,81% or 91,000 pieces and belong to E / k.
According to Ms. Koukouma, the issue has been discussed in the past and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been asked to appoint a committee to examine such cases. The suggestion was made again today and added that the committee can be composed of officials of the Land Registry, representatives of the Local Government or the Legal Service and can function as a mediation committee to examine these cases.
He stated that the registers of the Kyrenia and Famagusta Land Registry should be utilized and that the PD is called upon to include in the MOE the delivery of these registers. According to Ms. Koukouma, this is on the agenda, but the position of the Turkish Cypriots is that the surrender will take place in the context of the discussion for a solution to the Cyprus problem.
He said that the situation is aggravated by the fact that people who knew the details died and therefore another way must be found to deal with the situation because many want to use this property within the framework of equal burden sharing.
Mariella Aristeidou of DISY characterized the issue as very serious, saying that in the undeclared there are also pieces that belong to T / C. Understandably, he said, things are not easy but some cases can be settled if legal heirs' statements are accepted as credible and the pieces are transferred to them. He also mentioned that there can be a settlement of the issue with legislation.
