In his proposal to be announced immediately by the Government measures to be implemented in case Turkey and the occupying regime proceed to the implementation of what they announced about Famagusta, said the President of KS EDEK Marinos Sizopoulos.

Speaking on Thursday at the anti-occupation event for Famagusta, at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Famagusta, in Deryneia, Mr. Sizopoulos proposed the final closure of all roadblocks. At the same time, he proposed that only the Turkish Cypriot holders of identity cards of the Republic of Cyprus and their trapped or close relatives be allowed to move, and that C / Cs and third-country nationals, including those from EU Member States, not be allowed to move. .

He also suggested strict implementation of the "green line" regulation and declaring Tympos airport illegal, with a warning to the airlines that will use it to take legal and / or other measures against them.

He also suggested filing a request with the EU. to terminate the granting of any financial assistance to the occupying regime. Otherwise, he suggested vetoing all cases of financing and / or upgrading any trade or economic agreement with Turkey.

He also referred to Turkey 's insistence on the implementation of its Cypriot obligations to the EU. in September 2005, but also the replacement of passports and IDs of the Republic of Cyprus. For the latter, it was suggested that the request for admission include a provision for conviction and abstention from acts of sabotage or secession. The provision, he added, will concern the entire population, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot.

He also referred to the direct subsidization of the Special Fund for the Support of Refugees recently voted by the Parliament and to the challenge of the so-called Compensation Committee, given, as he said, that the decision of the ECtHR in 2008 is not superior to the UN Charter.

"We estimate that the implementation of the above measures will bring financial costs to the occupation regime," said Mr. Sizopoulos.

Moreover, the President of EDEK stated that "we are not going to accept and legitimize a solution of NATO inspiration and promotion".

He said that the new, imminent provocative actions of the occupying regime, assisted by the occupying Turkey for the settlement of the city of Famagusta, bring back to the fore the need to adopt a tactic that if it does not suspend their implementation at least slows them down or costs as well as in the occupation regime.

It is obvious, he said, that "as long as Turkey promotes the gradual implementation of its strategic goals regarding the Cyprus issue and not only is there no consequence, but on the contrary the Republic of Cyprus is cooperating to convene a new informal five-party conference on the basis of the occupying power." suggests and imposes with the help of the British, so its provocation will increase ".

He said that since 2015, in addition to the oral presentations at the sessions of the National Council, EDEK has submitted three multi-page documents with views and proposals regarding the tactics that we should follow to resolve the Cyprus issue.

In addition, he continued, anticipating the risk of gradual settlement of Famagusta, in 2016 and 2018 we submitted specific proposals, the implementation of which in our view could bring political and economic costs to the occupation regime with the aim of either opposing or postponing it. settlement. For obvious reasons, he said, these proposals were not made public, but were not used.

"Among the measures we had suggested was the non-opening of the Deryneia roadblock, holding a protest event. "Not only were we not listened to, but on the contrary we were accused," he said, and wondered if the proponents of openness understood the consequences that followed.

Today, with the developments that are taking shape, we can not continue to be apathetic, said the President of EDEK, saying that they submitted new proposals to the National Council "hoping that they will be used and will contribute to strengthening our negotiating position."

Marinos Sizopoulos stated that in the context of the solution, Turkey seeks to establish as a "political acquis" the factors that will allow it to proceed with a legal "declaration of state" as an alternative option, in case of failure to achieve its main goal which is its solution. DDO, to have a presence in the Eastern Mediterranean.

What he is doing today in occupied Famagusta with the aim of settling it and using it as a pole of economic development, is an additional blackmailing factor, he said.

He also said that the invitation for the return of residents of Famagusta "is a big trap" while "the issuance of property titles by the authorities of the occupation regime will give them international legitimacy and therefore recognition."

"It will legitimize the settlement and eventually those who return will be sure that either themselves or their descendants will have the fate of the people of Constantinople, the Imbrians and the Tenedians," he said.

He noted that these actions should not go unanswered, adding that the Republic of Cyprus "can and must take measures at the political and economic level that will bring costs to the occupation regime."
