A very important conference held on October 31 - November 1, 2019, in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, as part of the city's celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the development of a fraternal network with cities abroad and China, was attended by Municipal Councilor Antonis Christou Municipality of Ayia Napa.
The conference was attended by 110 representatives from 35 cities from 26 countries, which have twinned or partnered with Guangzhou. During the conference, Mr. Christou had meetings with several of the participants where he discussed with them issues of common interest, mainly issues related to tourism as well as the possibility of concluding future cooperation.
It is also important that during his meetings an agreement was reached with the Mayor of the Scottish capital Edinburgh to start cooperation in all areas, mainly in tourism.
In his statements, Mr. Christou expressed his satisfaction that he represented the Municipality of Ayia Napa in this very important conference, where he was given the opportunity to have very constructive meetings with his counterparts, Mayors of cities from all over the world and with officials of the Chinese city. .
"I am very happy," he added, "that we have reached an agreement with the mayor of Edinburgh on co-operation, which we believe will have multiple benefits for both cities."
