The next day of Pentecost, Monday, the Church honors the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity, and the Holy Trinity in general.

The Holy Spirit is with the Father and the Son the Triune God of Christianity. It is co-equal and equal to the other two persons and is distinguished from them in substance ("One in three and three in one"). The monotheism of Christianity is triadological and not monologue, like that of Judaism and Islam.

The Symbol of the Faith of Nicaea - Constantinople (381), better known as "I Believe", stipulates that the Holy Spirit is master and animator, co-ordinates and co-worships with the Father and the Son and proceeds from the Father ("… And in the Holy Spirit , the lord, the animal maker, the outcast from the Father, the plus Patri and the Son co-worshiped and accompanied, cried out through the prophets… ”).

The peculiarity of the way in which the Holy Spirit existed (emanating from the Father) was misinterpreted by the Martian-speaking Visigoths of Spain, who argued that the Holy Spirit emanates not only from the Father but also from the Son ("filioque"). They added this phrase to the Creed at the Synod of Toledo (589) and influenced the whole theology of the western world. This dogmatic difference between Western and Eastern Christianity provoked the Schism of 1054.

The Orthodox Church allows the depiction of the Holy Spirit only in two cases: as a dove in the depiction of the Epiphany and as a fiery language in the depiction of Pentecost.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, a procession was formed to the adjacent fishing shelter where, observing an old custom of Famagusta, the Holy Cross was immersed in the clear blue waters of the city of Paralimni.
