The Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance will continue to support the social work carried out by the Larnaca-Famagusta Deaf Group for social integration and a better future for people with any form of disability, said today Minister Zeta Aimilianidou.

At the Minister's greeting, at a "Charitable Tea" event of the Larnaca - Famagusta Deaf Group, read by Social Services Officer A, Fotoula Filippou, reference was made to the Group 's activities that began in 1980, adding that they face hearing problems and live in the Larnaca - Famagusta Provinces "and provides them with" all possible support and assistance "to facilitate their socialization and integration into society.

He added that "volunteering is a multifaceted process and way of life, as it has a constructive effect on the social fabric, affects everyone, regardless of social and economic discrimination, promotes the active participation of citizens in defending fundamental rights and strengthens social solidarity and cohesion. A voluntary action aims not only at the temporary treatment of the problem, but, as the case may be, also at the treatment of its causes, the strengthening of the beneficiaries and the continuous operation of support structures ".

The Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Security continued to support the Group's efforts "for social inclusion and a better future for people with any form of disability. "The highest priority for us is to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities and to fight prejudice with the aim of their full and equal participation in all areas of their lives," he said, noting that "this is what the state's cooperation with them looks forward to." organized bodies of society dealing with issues of people with disabilities ".

He also stated that in this direction "an important step has already been achieved with the ratification by the Republic of Cyprus of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. For the implementation of the Convention and the realization of the rights of persons with all types of disabilities, the Council of Ministers on December 19, 2017 approved the First National Disability Strategy with a ten-year framework for 2018-2028, as well as the three-year National Action Plan for 2018-2020, which includes a total of 86 actions, ongoing and new, to be implemented ".

At the same time, he assured that the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance, recognizing the offer of the Group, will continue to support the social work it performs, adding that "the common struggle gives the individual the feeling that he belongs equally to a society.
