A major problem for the hotel industry of the free area of Famagusta, is the issue of not finding working staff, with the hoteliers of the province being particularly concerned, in view of the new tourist season that is expected to begin in the coming months.

According to statements made to RIK by the president of PASYXE Famagusta, Doros Takkas, the lack of staff in hotels and restaurants amounts to several hundred jobs.

As he said, this issue is evolving into a big "headache", at the same time that the hoteliers of the province undertook this year to send their representatives abroad, in order to meet potential employees, to do interviews and if they deem it necessary to proceed with recruitment.
For the most part, hoteliers turn to the Greek, Bulgarian and Romanian markets to find staff in their units. "This is something very expensive for hoteliers and requires a lot of time, while the results are not guaranteed", added Mr. Takkas, noting that the situation with the lack of local staff leaves no other room as there are no other solutions so far. .
