A resident of Liopetri allegedly drove last night having in his blood 109 milligrams of alcohol instead of 22 milligrams, which is the limit.

According to the Police, shortly after 20.30 yesterday, members of the Famagusta Traffic Police, while checking speed on a road in Liopetri, stopped a saloon vehicle driven by a 45-year-old from Romania, a permanent resident of Liopetri, because he was running at 72 km per hour instead of 50 km, which was the limit.

During the police check, it was found that the 45-year-old was driving a car, while he was deleted, without security, without a certificate of fitness, while during the preliminary alcohol check, the reading was 105 instead of 22 milligrams.

The 45-year-old was driven to the Xylofagou Police Station where in the final alcohol reading the reading was 109 milligrams instead of 22.

An inspection revealed that a number of fines were pending against him and that is why the 45-year-old was arrested and detained.

The case is being investigated by the Xylofagou Police Station.
