The Progressive Movement of Teachers and Kindergarten Teachers, in an announcement, denounces the effort of the Ministry of Education and Culture to reduce, as it states, the provided time of Special Education.

The announcement states that "the whole effort is not the result of any scientific findings, but has as its sole purpose the reduction of the staff of Special Education and in particular the non-reappointment of colleagues with ten-month contracts. Therefore, the already reduced time provided to children in need of support is reduced even more, with the sole aim of saving funds ".

The Movement expresses concern that, as it states, after the distribution of the permanent positions announced by the Government, a large number of colleagues of the Special Education “will not be covered, as a result of which dozens of colleagues with years of work in education risk losing their job. their work ”.

The announcement states that amendments to the legislation should be made immediately, in order to ensure the right to work with the application of the indefinite time regime and in education. The Movement calls on the Ministry, even the last one, to overturn the plans made so far regarding Special Education, "hoping that it will finally be understood that addressing serious educational issues requires investment of funds and not solutions based on on the basis of the logic of numbers, ceilings and austerity ”.
