With an additional three thousand beds in their potential, the two major tourist resorts of free Famagusta, Ayia Napa and Protaras, appear ready to inaugurate the start of the new tourist season.

According to a report in the newspaper "Politis", 15-20 hotel units have operated in both resorts, while in some hotels the renovation or expansion work continues at a rapid pace, so that by mid-April, no later than the end of next month , the work has been completed in order for all units to reopen.

According to the official of the local tourism development and promotion company, Lakis Avraamidis, it is estimated that with the beginning of this year's tourist season, the province of Famagusta will have about 3.000 more beds than its hotel industry had during the last season.

And this, to satisfy the increased flow of tourists who are expected to visit the area in 2017. Based on the reservations and the interest that exists, it is estimated that during the peak months, in July and August, most hotels in Ayia Napa and of Protaras will be overcrowded.

"The indications we have so far are extremely positive, as we are expected to increase the flow of tourists from many traditional markets, such as the United Kingdom, Russia, Scandinavia, Germany and Israel. Based on the bookings available to date, it appears that 2017 will surpass 2016 in terms of overnight stays for visitors. What is required for us is not only quantity, but also quality, since we always aim at quality tourism. Of course, in the end they shave the groom, so at the end of the season we will be able to do our account. However, all the indications are encouraging, that is, we will have a very good year ", said Mr. Avraamidis.
