Wages in Cyprus increased slightly

The average wage level in Cyprus rose slightly in the fourth and last quarter of 2016 compared to the corresponding quarter of 2015 according to the Statistical Service.

Specifically, the average gross monthly salary at the end of 2016 amounted to 2.176 euros compared to 2.167 euros at the end of 2015, recording an increase of 9 euros or 0,4%.

An increase is recorded between the third and fourth quarter of 2016.

After the correction in seasonal fluctuations or which is used in comparison with the immediately preceding quarter, as the average gross earnings in the fourth quarter of 2016 are estimated at 1.879 euros compared to 1.873 euros in the third quarter of 2016, recording an increase of 6 euros or 0,3 , XNUMX%.

A larger increase is recorded in women's wages at the same time as men's wages remain higher.

Specifically, the average gross monthly earnings of men during the fourth quarter of 2016, are estimated at 2.337 euros increased by 5 euros or 0,2% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2015.

At the same time, the average gross earnings of women are estimated in the last quarter of 2016 at 1.989 euros, increased by 7 euros or 0,3% compared to 2015.

The calculation of average monthly earnings includes data for all employees for whom the employer has paid contributions to the Social Security Fund.

The data cover all sectors of the Cypriot economy, except for the activities of private households.
