Ms. Papadopoulou left clear tips against the leadership of DIKO but also in the way in which the candidates were selected for the upcoming Municipal Elections during yesterday's closed meeting of the party.
Ms. Papadopoulou wondered if and when there were political criteria or political decisions by collective bodies, how the party would proceed with the selection of specific individuals for candidacy in specific municipalities, leaving clear points for personal agendas of some but also favorable treatment in favor of some of its leadership. .
In the Local Government, according to Antigoni Papadopoulou, we need people who have a history, a proven offer and who care about their fellow human beings. "This is the profile of the people that DIKO should support," he said meaningfully. It is important, he continued, that the party does not give the impression that some people are promoting others, this is not a political criterion, he noted meaningfully.
Selective leaks with expediencies
Referring to the leaks that saw the light of day in relation to yesterday's closed meeting of DIKO, Ms. Papadopoulou stressed that in a closed session you should dare to express your opinion, which should be based on the principles and values that everyone stands for. It attributed expediencies to its competitors for selective leaks and called on journalists to evaluate the information and look for the expediencies behind this information before fully adopting it. He also stressed that there was a clear misinformation regarding what happened at the DIKO meeting and called on the President of DIKO to investigate the specific issue.
Asked specifically about the Municipality of Strovolos and the candidacy of Tsingi, Ms. Papadopoulou stated that he had asked in previous meetings of the party to clarify in time the political decision regarding the process and the criteria for selecting candidates, before even naming specific names. "But some have been in pre-arrangement for months and had pre-arranged their own candidacy," says Ms. Papadopoulou, implying that the choice of Tsingi may be a product of conciliation.
In closing, Mrs. Papadopoulou noted that many could work better within the party and said he was present as a historical figure to defend principles and values that are a key component of a party, for itself.
