The infamous regulations that will govern the new form of local government are in the final stage of elaboration and will soon be submitted to Parliament for discussion and voting.
The package of regulations prepared by experts from the Ministry of Interior was considered by the competent Parliamentary Committee to be necessary before it, in the parallel debate on the local government bill.
The regulations, as we are informed by our sources who reside in the Ministry. Interior will also include the element of surprise, as new elements will be added to the new structure of local government. The duties and obligations of the main pillar of local government, which are the provincial complexes, will also be described.
It is noted that with the submission of the regulations in the next period the Parliamentary Committee on Interior chaired by Eleni Mavrou and the competent Minister of Interior Socrates Hasikos with the General Director Konstantinos Nikolaidis who has the general order will run the procedure so that the bill to be in front of the plenary before the summer holidays, in order to make the state law. From then on, there will be an adjustment period based on the new rules so that from next year the local government will operate at full speed.
