The Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Municipalities of the free area of Famagusta are experiencing a headache due to the phenomenon of disturbance and disorder observed by contractors, which are engaged in the construction / renovation of hotel units in the area.

As stated by the Chairman of the Board of CTO, Angelos Loizou, in an interview given to InBusinessNews, recently in the free area of Famagusta (Protaras, Paralimni, Ayia Napa) there is the phenomenon of projects being done in such a way that create huge disorder. "We received a lot of negative comments from tourists who visited the area for the first time during this period," he said, adding that tourists' complaints were mainly about heavy noise (mostly from workers), illegal parking of trucks on sidewalks, incomplete or no signage. construction sites so that there are safe passageways etc. "The CTO toured, recorded the problems and sent letters to the municipal authorities, in order to do what is possible to at least show that we are civilized in the way we deal with development," added Mr. Loizou.

"Such phenomena create a bad image in foreigners for the way we conduct work in areas where there are tourists," concluded Mr. Loizou.

In a communication of InBusinessNews with the municipal authorities, it was stated that the issue is being handled, so that such phenomena are completely eliminated.
