Measures at three levels to deal with fan violence, announced the Government Spokesman of Greece Giannis Oikonomou, during the briefing of the political authors.

Mr. Economou noted that the initiatives that the Greek government will take, as decided during the meeting held this morning at the Maximos Palace under the Greek Prime Minister, will be included in the new sports bill that will be submitted to Parliament soon.

Specifically, the measures taken by the Greek government will move at three levels.

First, they will include a tightening and systematization of the institutional framework for the fans' clubs and their branches.

Secondly, they will move in the direction of the necessary adjustments to the penal code and thirdly, they will include the intensification of police checks.

Mr. Oikonomou also claimed that government bills have already established the possibility of collecting and utilizing material recorded in any way related to sports violence, as well as that the nickname has been restored and the prescribed penalties have been tightened.
