The residents of the Meteora Polichni area of the municipality of Pavlos-Mela in Thessaloniki have been disturbed by a "strange" and deafening noise in the evening, as no one knows where it comes from.

However, the autopsy carried out by the EYATH team on Thursday night (13/01) in the area, revealed that it is not related to a water pipe.

Specifically, according to sources of the Thessaloniki Water and Sewerage Company at ThessToday, the ladder went to the checkpoint and at 00:50 heard the sound. However, according to their first estimates, it is not due to the water network or the operation of the aqueduct.

The source of the sound was not easy to determine, but it is said to have come from the opposite side of the area, namely the Sheikh Su forest.

The next actions of the Municipality

As stated by the Deputy Mayor of Everyday - Immediate Intervention and Civil Protection of the municipality of Pavlos-Mela, Joseph Akis Arapoglou, they will now address the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and will ask for help from the relevant departments.

"Since EYATH is not related to the origin of the sound, we will ask for help from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. "From what the EYATH crew, with whom we were in the area on Thursday night, told us, the sound is coming from Sheikh Sou's forest," he said.

For his part, the vice president of the Citizens' Union "Meteora", Nikos Papadopoulos added that the origin of the sound is still unknown and certainly scares the residents what can happen. The investigation is ongoing and we hope to locate the source. "

It is recalled that, according to the testimonies, about a month ago, residents noticed an "annoying sound that is heard louder at the junction of Kifissias and Acropolis streets, from midnight until the early morning hours."

"At the intersection of Kifissias and Acropolis streets, it sounds louder, as if the epicenter is there. When we are at the point where it sounds loud, we feel like someone is hitting. We are all afraid because we do not know where it comes from. There are people who wake up from the sound 2 and 3 o'clock in the morning. For example, yesterday at 5:30 in the morning, I was awake and listening to him ", described the first resident who perceived the sound, Vangelis Kokacheilis.

At the same time, Ms. Anastasia Lampada, a resident of Meteora, explained that those who live on the ground floor hear the sound in their home.

"Many families can not sleep at night. Now, it has become more intense and more annoying. "When we get to the center, we feel the duk… duk… duk…", he described, emphasizing that this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately as no one knows what can happen.
