The absolute horror was experienced by 10 children in Tanzania, who were found without teeth and genitals, sacrificed in a magic ceremony that took place in the east of the African country.
The children were aged from two to 10 years. Unknown people had abducted them from their homes, in the Njombe area, in early 2019.
The police officers who found the children, found that their abductors had cut off their ears and genitals, while they had also extracted their teeth. "So far we have found ten bodies, some of which were missing," said Tanzania's deputy health minister, adding that other children who had been abducted were also wanted.
He stressed that "all the evidence shows that this is a trade in human limbs, as they are used for magic ceremonies in various places." In Tanzania and other African countries, spells involving human limbs are considered to promote good health and good fortune.
The United Nations is also involved in the search for the perpetrators, offering the Tanzanian government any assistance that could be sought.
