North Korea says it is open to dialogue with the US government

The North Korean government has said it remains open to dialogue with the United States following US President Donald Trump's decision to cancel a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, a move Pyongyang called "exceptional."

"We have treated with great respect the efforts of President Trump, unprecedented by any other (US) president, to become a historic North Korean-US summit," said North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Kie Gwan. KCNA news.

"We reiterate to the United States our determination to meet face to face, at all times and in any way, to resolve the issue," he added.

"The (Trump) sudden announcement of the cancellation of the summit is unexpected for us and we can describe it as extremely sad," he added.
