A record of hospitalizations of children with coronavirus is recorded in Makareio, with the Director of the Pediatric Clinic of the Hospital, Dr. Abraham Elias, urging parents to vaccinate their children.

"We have nine children to treat COVID-19 currently one month to ten years old. Eight are under five years old. The children are out of danger. The predominant symptom is fever. "It is the largest number we have ever had for the treatment of children with coronavirus, the previous number was seven children in the summer", said to KYPE, Dr. Elias.

There is a concern, he said, that there is a large spread of the virus in the community resulting in many children being infected, children who are vulnerable, unvaccinated and more prone to developing the virus.

"The occupancy is around 90% but if necessary arrangements will be made to accommodate all children with coronavirus because we are the reference center for the pediatric population for treatment COVID-19"He noted.

Dr. Elias urged all parents to proceed with the vaccination of their children, stating that with the non-vaccination "apart from the health of the children that we endanger, we also endanger the smooth reopening of schools".

Asked, Dr. Elias was in favor of closing schools for a short time, stressing that prolonged school closures should not be done.

"I am not in favor of a lockdown either, because everyone has to take responsibility. "The vast majority of citizens showed a responsible attitude and were vaccinated and should not pay for the irresponsible attitude of the vast majority who were not vaccinated," he added.
