A Greek was saved at the last moment from the air tragedy in Ethiopia

He did not pass the control of the airport as, according to him, he was characterized as "suspicious"

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 crashed Sunday morning shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board - 149 passengers from 33 countries and eight crew members.

The plane took off from the capital of Ethiopia and was destined for Nairobi, Kenya. A Greek was lucky and did not board the plane at the last minute.

Mr. Mavropoulos had gone to the airport but did not pass the control of the airport as, according to him, he was characterized as "suspicious".

"I was detained at Addis Ababa airport as a 'suspect' and I did not board the Ethiopian Airlines plane. I did not board and I was saved. "But I lost acquaintances who were working with the UN," he told Alpha.

"After a false interrogation for two or three hours, they left me," said Mr Mavropoulos, who eventually boarded another plane.
