A 26-year-old Austrian attacked with a knife on Sunday night a soldier guarding the residence of the Iranian ambassador in Vienna, who killed the perpetrator using his service weapon, police said.
The death of the perpetrator of the attack was instantaneous, Harald Mezer, a police spokesman, explained to the French Agency.
The incident took place around 23:35 (00:35 Cyprus time) in the district of Vienna where the ambassador's residence is located, according to the same source.
