Giuseppe Pelé, the mastermind of the Calabrian mafia, Drageta, was arrested in the village of Kontofouri in Lower Italy. Pele, 58, has been a fugitive since 2016.
About fifty police officers took part in the operation. The detainee - one of the bigots who devised Dragetta's strategy - was hiding in a secluded house, near a torrent, which was impossible to reach, following a paved road.
There were other people inside the house, whose role is being verified, during these hours, by the judges of Reggio Calabria.
