A new British scientific study estimates that the first incident Covid-19 appeared between early October and mid-November 2019 in China, most likely on November 17, a few weeks before the official pandemic start date set in early December in Wuhan.

Researchers at the University of Kent, led by Dr. David Roberts, who published the paper in the medical journal PLoS Pathogens, used a mathematical model to make their calculations. Their study strengthens the belief of many scientists that the pandemic had started earlier and then spread rapidly.

According to new estimates, the first case outside China occurred in Japan on January 3, 2020, the first case in Europe occurred in Spain on January 12, 2020 and the first in the United States on January 16. According to the researchers, the appearance of the new coronavirus - before infecting humans - must have occurred a little earlier in the fall of 2019, without having any opinion on the origin of the virus.
