Professor Giuseppe Conte is expected to be instructed to form a government by Italian President Sergio Matarella. The Italian president invited Conte to the Kyrenalio, despite the issue that arose on Tuesday, with Italian and foreign newspapers reporting on inaccuracies in his CV regarding his postgraduate studies.

According to reports, Matarella spoke this morning with the leaders of the Five Stars and the Lega, Luigi Di Maio and Matteo Salvini, who reportedly repeated to him that Conte continues to be their candidate for prime minister. Shortly afterwards, the Italian president summoned the law professor from Lower Italy for a possible government mandate.

"The third reigning Italian Republic begins, I promised. "The whole structure we have created has endured," Luigi Di Maio wrote, adding that Conte "will be the prime minister with a stronger political character than any of his predecessors" and that for government ministers "decisions will be made later". The League also confirms that the party is ready to formalize this new governing alliance.

According to the protocol, Giuseppe Conte is expected to accept the mandate to form a government with reservations and return to the presidential palace in the next few days to present the list of his proposed ministers to the president and formally accept Matarella's mandate.
