Newer data from the Public Health Agency (PHE) show that as of 29 August, 1.798 deaths of coronavirus delta carriers had been recorded in the UK. 154 of them were under 50 years old and the remaining 1.644 were older.

In those under 50, 64%, or 99 victims, were unvaccinated. 9% had received a dose of the vaccine and 24% had been fully vaccinated.

In contrast, in the elderly 64%, ie 1.054 victims, were fully vaccinated. 27% were unvaccinated and 8% with a single dose.

A small percentage of deaths could not be cross-checked with vaccination records.

Also, during the same period, 9.472 carriers of the Delta variant were hospitalized in England. 73% of patients under the age of 50 were unvaccinated. 10% of them were fully vaccinated. In the older patients the percentage of fully vaccinated was 61% and of the unvaccinated 30%.

The data confirm that they confirm the importance of both the initial vaccination of the citizens and the administration of a third booster dose to the elderly, due to the declining protection provided by the vaccines over the months.
