A five-year-old girl lost both of her parents when her mother slipped on a snow-covered rock while hiking and her father also fell off a cliff with him trying to save her.
The tragic incident took place on Sunday in the Carmonica Valley of Italy, in Lombardy, where the family had gone hiking with their friends, according to the British Sun.
As they were returning from hiking, they were forced to leave the normal path because an avalanche had blocked part of it and to walk near the cliff.
Then, 35-year-old Valeria Coleta tripped on the edge of the cliff in front of the eyes of her husband, 40-year-old Fabricio Marci, who tried to catch her and as a result he fell from a height of many meters. Their death was instantaneous.
Their friends alerted the authorities when they managed to return safely with the couple's five-year-old daughter, who will now live with her grandparents.
Their bodies were located and later retrieved by a helicopter that arrived at the scene.
