Next to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth to deal with the phenomenon of school closures without the prior approval of the Ministry, says the Pancyprian Confederation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Public and Community Kindergartens.
In its announcement, the Confederation refers to yesterday's meeting that the Minister of Education, Prodromos Prodromou, had with all the organized parents and to the discussion that took place.
Regarding the issue that a portion of parents decide to keep their children away from kindergartens due to fear of the spread of the coronavirus but also the lack of information or guidelines, according to the announcement, Mr. Prodromou "stated that this problem may resolved by the establishment and operation of the central body for the management of incidents in school premises ".
"We suggested the introduction of guidelines for all possible scenarios that may arise in case of an accident and informing the School Directorates and the Provincial Departments of the Ministry, so that parents and the Associations are immediately informed about the expected actions," it said.
As a Confederation, it is noted, among other things, "we stand by the Ministry of Education and Science to deal with the phenomenon of school closures without the prior approval of the Ministry of Education and Science and we reiterate that we agree with the physical presence of our children in schools and lifelong learning as long as all appropriate measures for the safety and health of our children ".
