Adopted by the Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), resolution by MP Kyriakos Hatzigiannis, rapporteur of the Committee.

A statement from Parliament said that the report also referred to Famagusta, which has become a ghost town since the 1974 Turkish invasion, and called on Turkey to comply with UN resolutions and restore the rights of its legal residents. .

The Cypriot MP pointed out that, throughout the OSCE region, there is a decline in the protection of human rights, stressing that the growing weakening of international supervision of democratic rules and the rule of law leaves room for exploitation by oppressive regimes and regimes.

With special care in the resolution, the Cypriot MP condemned the Armenian Genocide and called on the National Parliaments that have not yet done so to proceed with its recognition.

The resolution also focuses on the human rights of children, especially those living in war-torn areas, the need to eradicate modern forms of slavery, human trafficking, sexual exploitation and economic exploitation, and the need to ensure refugees' right of access; and asylum seekers in education and health systems.

Mr. Hatzigiannis also made special reference to women who are victims of inequality and harassment, both in times of peace and in areas of conflict, noting that, unfortunately, the goal of ending violence against women is still very far away.
